Dame Hannah

Christine Eastwood

Rose Maybud’s aunt.

Chris has now been “treading the boards” for over fifty years, beginning with school concerts and pantomimes. In her late teens, she joined Accrington Amateurs as a chorus member in “The Desert Song” and “New Moon”.

In her early teaching career, she was introduced to G & S by her headmaster who was the chairman of Blackburn G & S Society, and began with a small part in “The Gondoliers”, and she has now played twenty-two different G & S roles, large and small, and also taken turns in the chorus.

Chris has now taken part in thirty-three shows with Christchurch G & S Society, and about thirty shows with Milton Musical Society, with whom she has also had a long association, playing a variety of roles.

She thoroughly enjoys character parts, and in her younger days played several “sweet young things”, but now she enjoys being “battle-axes” and “old biddies”!

When Chris last saw “Ruddigore” in the Buxton Festival in 2011, being performed by the Professional Company, the scenery was still being painted in the afternoon just before the show! It hardly had time to dry before the cast went on stage!

Chris hopes you will enjoy our production – the plot is as ‘far-fetched’ as ever, but it has some lovely music!
